Graduated from the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmamed Azadi. Between 1993 and 2003 worked as a teacher of English language and literature in a specialized school in Dashoguz No. 2. Since September 2003, for two years, he held the position of a Specialist of the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Work of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. In April 2005, he took the position of Second Secretary of the Department of Diplomatic Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Between 2008 and 2010 held the positions of First Secretary and Counselor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. From August 2010 to May 2011, he worked as Counselor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of France, Paris. Continuing his diplomatic career, Atageldy Khaljanov from 2011 to 2012 worked as First Secretary, Consul of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States of America. From 2012 to 2014 worked as Head of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Since September 11, 2014, he has been the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, since June 2015 - Permanent and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Switzerland, since December 13, 2018 - Permanent and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Holy See, and from April 28, 2020 d. - Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Nairobi.
